Playback
Opening media
FrameLift plays video and images — MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WebM, M4V, MPG/MPEG, PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, WebP, and anything else FFmpeg supports. You can open media in several ways:
- Drag and drop a file onto the window.
- Pass a path on the command line:
FrameLift "C:\clips\demo.mkv"(see CLI usage). - Open a network stream —
http, https, andrtspsources (and custom encrypted streams) via the "Open Network Stream…" action. - Pick from history — the recently-played panel reopens a file at its saved position.
Audio & subtitle tracks
Files with multiple audio or subtitle tracks let you switch at runtime, and you can adjust subtitle delay on the fly. Default track selection can be steered by a preferred language in Settings; sidecar subtitle and audio files matching the media are auto-loaded when enabled.
Playlist
Opening a file automatically populates a playlist from its directory. The playlist supports:
- Recursive subdirectory scanning (with a configurable depth).
- Shuffle.
- Auto-reload when the directory changes on disk.
- Mixed video/image playlists, with a configurable slideshow auto-advance interval for images.
History & resume
Recently played files are kept in a searchable side panel along with their saved playback positions, so reopening a file resumes where you left off. How many entries to keep is configurable.
Dynamic audio normalization
An optional dynaudnorm-based normalization filter evens out loudness, with
tunable parameters in Settings.
Overlays
A playback-controls HUD appears on interaction, and optional debug and benchmark overlays show live playback stats and performance numbers.
